Absence & Attendance
Regular school attendance is crucial for your child's success. It helps them build knowledge, understanding, and skills, leading to better academic progress. Consistent attendance also fosters a strong sense of belonging within the school community.
We understand that illness is sometimes unavoidable. However, it is vital for us to know if your child will be absent and the reason why. This is an important safeguarding measure. Please report your child's absence by 8:30 am on the day they will be out of school.
You can now report same-day absences for your children directly through the Parent Portal or Arbor App.
To do this:
Go to the Attendance section.
Click "log absence" and fill in the details. You can adjust start and end times for partial-day absences.
After submission, school staff will review and either approve or reject the request. Approved absences will appear in your Attendance tab.
Important Things to Remember
-
This new feature is only for same-day absences. For any longer or future absences, please keep using the same-day absence Google Form.
-
If you need to change an absence request that hasn't been approved yet, you'll have to delete it and create a new one since you can't edit it.
-
Once an absence is approved, you can't delete it through the app. If you need to make any changes after approval, please get in touch with the school directly.
This new reporting method will be used alongside our existing reporting procedures.

Penalty Notices Sutton
Penalty notices are fines imposed on parents. They are an alternative to the prosecution of parents for failing to ensure that their child of compulsory school age regularly attends the school where they are registered or at a place where alternative provision is provided. Penalty notices can be used where the pupil’s absence has not been authorised by the school. Please refer to the attendance policy for further information regarding Penalty Notices.
